<p>PURPOSE: To provide a knife pilot device for minimizing defects resulting from the bending of a knife when located at a cutting position along a preset cutting passage. CONSTITUTION: A cutting head 104 for rotating a knife 10 around a Z-axis is operated to move the knife along a cutting passage. A socket 53 firmly mounted on the cutting head and a support 60 rotatably mounted on the socket 53 around a vertical axis 6 located a certain distance from the Z-axis in front of and close to the front edge 11 of the knife are provided for guide means for guiding the non-supported portion of the knife reciprocatingly movable along the Z-axis. The support 60 has a slot 61 for encircling franks 13, 14 of the knife and the slot 61 is offset from the axis 6. The knife 10, subjected to lateral load on the franks 13, 14 and bending force by the knife, is twisted to the vertical axis 6 and adjusted to a desired direction.</p> |
