Method for inspecting welds or surface defects in an inspection region (101) in the lower section of a pressurised vessel (1) of a reactor, pref. the inside (101), of a drive tool housing (10) within a pressurised vessel for a water boiling type nuclear reactor, uses an inspection device comprising a scanner (20) and a manipulator (21) for moving the scanner into the inspection region when the manipulator is located in an inspection position. During the inspection process the device is guided into the inside of he vessel, then the manipulator is guided and centred against a cavity (131) in the upper section of the tool housing and moved to an inspection position (B-B) inside the vessel and then the scanner is moved in and out of the inspection region from this position. The appts. for carrying out this method is also claimed, contg. a manipulator with guide bodies (215), e.g. heels or rolls, for guiding a nd centering it against the drive tool cavity and a suspension body (214) for locating the manipulator in an inspection position with the aid of a lifting device (22). |
