The packaging is formed by two sheets of thermoplastic (1,2) thermo-sealed together at their periphery (1a,2a). One of the two sheets is transparent and the food product (3) is placed between them. The space between the two sheets contains a gaseous mixture at atmospheric pressure. In a corner of one of the sheets, between the food product and the sheet external edges, is a housing (6) which communicates through a channel (7) with the space where the food product is situated. This housing encloses a component (8) able to absorb residual oxygen contained in the gaseous mixture surrounding the food product.
