METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ATM CELL RELAY EXCHANGE

PURPOSE: To apply economical relay exchange for ATM cells with different header length and data speed between two ATM cell switching systems or over. CONSTITUTION: An ATM cell of various formats from an incoming line is once converted into the same cell format whose data speed is increased in each of incoming line corresponding cell length conversion reception sections 51 -5n and switched corresponding to a path by an ATM cell switching section 1, and a cell format is converted again into a cell format with a data speed corresponding to a path by each of cell length conversion transmission sections 61 -6n and outputted from each of outgoing lines 41 -4n , then the cell is relayed and exchanged to a path destination economically.
