An industrial sewing machine contains a drive that operates a main axle to produce an oscillating motion in a needle holder carrying a needle. The main axle is placed transverse in the machine, coupled on one side of the housing to the drive by a shaft through a boring near the mid-line. On the other side of the housing, it engages a moving unit that alternately releases and grips the shaft during the sewing cycle. |
