CHARGING CONTROLLER FOR BATTERY SET

PURPOSE: To perform stable full charging by adding a correction based on the difference between battery temperature and air temperature to the variation per unit time of the battery temperature thereby seeking the change rate of the battery temperature, and controlling the charging of a battery set when the change rate gets over the specified value. CONSTITUTION: A battery temperature sensor 7 detects the temperature of at least one battery among a plurality of module batteries. An air temperature sensor 8 detects the air temperature above that of the module battery. A temperature measure means 2A measures the battery temperature and air temperature, based on the output of the battery temperature sensor 7 and the output of the air temperature sensor 8. A correction means 2E seeks the change rate of the battery temperature by adding the correction based on the difference between the battery temperature and the air temperature to the variation per unit time of the battery temperature. And, a changing rate judging means 2F controls the charge of the battery set consisting of the series aggregate of module batteries when the change rate gets over the specified value, whereby it detects the temperature rise of the battery set accurately.
