<p>A bearing assembly (10) includes an improved clamping arrangement for securement to a shaft (12). The inner ring (16) of the bearing assembly includes a tapered inner surface (28) generally complementary to a tapered outer surface (26) of a tapered adapter (14). Each of the tapered adapter (14) and the inner ring member (16) includes an axial extension portion (32, 34) which are situated to be proximate one another during use. A nut (36) is provided interconnecting the extension portions (32, 34) such that relative axial movement may be effected between the inner ring member (16) and the tapered adapter (14). As a result, the bearing assembly (10) may be secured to or removed from the shaft (12).</p> |
