PURPOSE: To effectively reduce flare at the time of regenerating an image by fabricating a hologram so as to satisfy a diffraction condition via the incidence of reference light at the Brewster's angle at the regeneration process, and laying a phase conversion optical element on a surface faced to a hologram observer. CONSTITUTION: Regarding a device using a hologram as a combiner, a reflective volume hologram 2 made of a photo polymer material is stacked on the surface of a transparent glass substrate 1, and a phase conversion film 8 for changing a linear polarizing component is stacked on the surface of the substrate 1 faced to an observer 5. Furthermore, a liquid crystal luminous display device 3 is provided under the position the observer 5, and a bundle of rays 4 is projected in a linearly polarized form of a P component, so as to be incident on the surface of the hologram 2 at an angle θ4 approximately equal to 56.7 degrees. When the bundle of rays 4 is transmitted through the film 8, the polarizing direction thereof is converted to an S component, and reflectively diffracted within the hologram 2. Thereafter, the polarizing direction is again converted to the linearly polarized light of the P component via the film 8, and advances to the observer 5 at an angle θ5 roughly equal to 65 degrees. |
