PURPOSE: To obtain a new inexpensive proliferation promoter for Lactobacillus fibidus being readily prepared, comprising a natural rubber serum prepared by separating latex from bark of natural rubber, a hydrolyzate of the natural rubber serum hydrolyzed with a protease or their mixture as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: A natural rubber serum(NRS) prepared by separating latex from bark of natural rubber, a hydrolyzate of the natural rubber serum(NRS) obtained by hydrolyzing the natural rubber serum(NRS) with a protease (e.g. papain) in 0.066mol of a phosphate buffer solution at pH6.8 at 30 deg.C for 18 hours and filtering its supernatant liquid by a semipermeable membrane of cellulose acetate having 0.2μm pore size or their mixture is desalted by an ion exchange resin or ion exchange film, concentrated, used as it is in a liquid state or spray- dried into a powdered state and pharmaceutically manufactured to give the objective proliferation promoter for Lactobacillus fibidus which is capable of selectively acting on Lactobacillus fibidus and promoting its proliferation, is readily prepared, inexpensive and new. |
