An electrical connector assembly (2) is comprised of a first housing portion (4) having an upper cover portion (6). A lower housing portion (8) has a corresponding cover portion (10). Terminals (70,90)having insulation displacement slots (72,74; 92,94) at each end thereof are positioned in slots (50) of the lower housing portions (8). The upper housing portion (4) has a cable receiving channel at (22) cooperating with a channel (30) in the upper cover portion (6) to align the conductors (204) with apertures (16) in the lower housing portion (4). The cable (200) can be positioned in a channel (62) of the lower cover portion (10) and the entire assembly can be pressed together by way of the upper (26) and lower (61) lids.
