<p>There is a roll-forming unit (41, 42) on each side of the coil (14) and adjacent the coil. The coil may be a coiled cold rolled steel strip. A bent and curved edge protecting strip (45, 48) with an L-formed section is formed from a continuous coiled strip (46, 47) while the coil (14) is rotated. The roll-forming and the rotation of the coil (14) is then interrupted and the coil is strapped with a package strap to hold the edge protectors (45, 48) fixed in place. This sequence is repeated one or more times at the outer ends of the roll-forming units (41, 42), and cutters (61, 62) are used to cut off the produced edge protectors (45, 48).</p> |
