The invention relates to a technical arrangement by means of which trees are cut on a large scale in order to facilitate handling, and crushed in order to facilitate drying - also by means of cold air drying B by bending the tree whilst it is being pressed against a cutting arrangement, which at the same time can be moved laterally, producing a cutting movement in which the tree is cut in two and the channels present on the cutting steel crush the tree in the longitudinal direction. In use the arrangement fulfils the object of significantly reducing harvesting costs for power- generation timber by simplifying the working effort and increasing the net energy content of the product by reducing the manufacturing energy, and when drying is facilitated the increased combustion energy can be harnessed. <IMAGE>
