FIELD: metallurgy; furnaces for production of iron-containing alloys; heat-treatment of solid household garbage. SUBSTANCE: at least part of electrode is located inside shaft which is provided with casing for protection of electrode and electrode holder against contact with charge contained in shaft; casing is partially open towards electrode holder and furnace body. Casing may be cooled or it may be made from nonmagnetic material. Furnace is provided with device for hermetic joint of furnace body with shaft; joint is movable relative to shaft. EFFECT: reduction of thermal losses of furnace due to generation of electric arc inside charge descending from shaft. 4 cl, 2 dwg |
