METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING EXHAUST GAS

PURPOSE: To enhance the incineration efficiency of fine particles in a filter part by efficiently generating plasma from exhaust gas in the front stage part of a filter while heating the whole of the filter by microwaves and further heating the filter to high temp. within a short time by the generated plasma. CONSTITUTION: A magnetron 1 is connected to a coaxial waveguide 4 consisting of inner and outer conductors 2, 3 and one end of the coaxial waveguide 4 is terminated by a metal net 6 having apertures permitting treated exhaust gas to pass and the other end thereof becomes the reentrant resonator 7 terminated by a metal net 8. The coaxial part of the coaxial waveguide 4 is packed with a dielectric filter 5 and a dielectric ring 10 is inserted in order to take the impedance of a microwave transmission path and the filter 5 is heated by plasma 9.
