METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING SIDE FORCE OF SCREW OF EXTRUDER

PURPOSE: To accurately estimate the side force applied to the axis of a screw in a right-angled direction by bringing one end of the spindle piercing the cylinder wall of an extruder into contact with the outer peripheral part of a screw shaft and detecting the component of the side force at the detection point of the screw on the other end side of the spindle. CONSTITUTION: A load converter 104 comes into contact with the opposite surface of the spindle 106 being in contact with a screw shaft 102 in a non-load state and is positioned by the bolt 109 threaded with a cap 108 so as to become such a state that load is slightly applied. When load is applied to the screw shaft 102 and side force is generated, the component of the side force at the contact point of the screw shaft 102 with the spindle 106 in the direction right- angled to the axis of the screw shaft is transmitted to the detection part of the load converter 104 and the load converter 104 converts the component of the side force to an electric signal to output the electric signal to an external operator by an output cable 105 and the component of the side force in the direction of a side force measuring device 103 is operated.
