<p>PURPOSE: To secure an action of exhaust gas recirculation as well as to prevent any drop in engine performance from occurring by making a controller generate a three- phase a.c. machine in the base where intake pressure is higher than exhaust pressure, and when the intake pressure is dropped yet more than the specified value, making the intake pressure go up with a variable displacement mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A turbine 7 is connected to an exhaust manifold 9 of an engine 1, and a compressor 5 is installed concentrically with a shaft 8 of this turbine 7. In addition, a motor-generator 6 is installed in a spot being intermediate between the turbine 7 and the compressor 5. A variable generator system 15 is installed in the exhaust turbine 7 and it is controlled by a controller 11. In the case where intake pressure is higher than exhaust pressure in time of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR), a generated variable of the motor-generator 6 is increased, whereby the intake pressure is made lower than the exhaust pressure, securing the effect of exhaust gas recirculation, and in the case where the intake pressure is dropped more than the specified value at a time when the motor-generator 6 is generated, the intake pressure is boosted by the variable generator system 15, and thus any possible drop in engine performance is prevented from occurring.</p> |
