PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a drift in a plate-like vibrating type gyroscope caused by the temperature change of a vibrator and, at the same time, to reduce the detection loss of the gyroscope. CONSTITUTION: A vibrator 10b is formed in the state of a plate supported at its one end and, in the vibrator 10b, a grounding electrode 15 is buried between plates 12a and 12b made of a piezoelectric material and driving and detecting electrodes 13a, 13b, 14a, and 14b are provided on the upper and lower surfaces of the plates 12a and 12b. The AC driving power to the electrodes 13a, 13b, 14a, and 14b are supplied in the same phase and the vibrator 10b is vibrated and driven in x-direction. The vibrator 10b which receives a Coriolis force in a rotating system vibrates in z-direction. When the vibrator 10b vibrates, the differences between the detecting outputs of the electrodes 13b and 14b and those of the electrodes 13a and 14a are obtained by a differential circuit 22 and a detecting output proportional to the Coriolis force is obtained. Since the vibrator 10b is made only of the piezoelectric material, such a drift or detecting output loss that is produced when elastic materials having different temperature coefficients are stuck to each other, does not occur. |
