FIELD: manufacture of thermally stable long operating motor oils for engines of any heat capacity. SUBSTANCE: synthetic lubricating oil comprises mixture of secondary mono- and polyalkylnaphthalenes of formula:wherein monoalkylnaphthalines have three radicals R which are hydrogen atoms and one radical R is alkyl, and polyalkylnaphthalenes have from 2 to 4 radicals R which are alkyls and other radicals R are hydrogen atoms, the number of carbon atoms in alkyl chain being from 6 to 18 at weight ratio of mono- to polyalkylnaphthalenes ranging from 99:1 to 50:50. Said oil has great resistance to oxidation and higher stability of viscosity and temperature characteristics. EFFECT: improved properties of the synthetic lubricating oil.
