PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the image reader in which an original is read in an excellent way while suppressing fluctuation in a luminous quantity on an original face even when the original is placed in a more or less floated state. SOLUTION: An equi-luminous quantity line 10 is set in which a difference or a ratio between a luminous quantity at each point in a block and a luminous quantity at reading is within a prescribed permissible value and the length of the block is a permissible interval between a platen glass 8 and an original read face 7 based on an equi-luminous quantity curve 2 formed when a light emitted from an LED array 1 reaches an optimum luminous quantity for reading. Thus, the set equi-luminous quantity line 10 is almost coincident or in parallel with an optical axis 6 of a selfoc lens and the permissible distance 9 between the front side of the platen glass 8 and the original on the platen glass is included in the block through the arrangement of the LED array 1. Thus, even when the original face 7 is floated from the front side of the platen glass 8, the luminous quantity of the original face 7 is made nearly constant. |
