PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to inexpensively produce a liquid crystal display element with high reliability and yield and with decreased stages and to embody high-quality image display by arranging spacers in prescribed positions in such a manner that these spacers come into contact with a polysilane layer consisting essentially of polysilane. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display element is constituted of a counter substrate 21 which has counter electrodes 2, the spacers 3, color filters 4, light shielding layers 5, oriented film 6, etc., and an array substrate 22 which has TFTs 7, pixel electrodes 8, signal lines 10, oriented film 11, etc., and is arranged to face this counter substrate 21, a liquid crystal compsn. 12 held in the spacing between a pair of the glass substrates 1 and 20, etc. Liquid crystals are held between a pair of the glass substrates 1 and 20 arranged to face each other in such a manner. At least either of the glass substrates 1, 20 is provided with the color filters 4 and the spacers 3 for maintaining the specified distance between the glass substrates 1 and 20. The spacers 3 are arranged in the prescribed positions in such a manner that the spacers come into contact with polysilane consisting essentially of the polysilane. |
