PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a copyright by inserting a signal to scramble a function on the side of a recorded sound/image into an analog video signal. SOLUTION: With a recording format containing a recording area for pack structured additional information, an input image signal is encoded and recorded in the relevant recording area, and a scramble signal generation flag for the copyright protection of the input image signal is stored in the pack of additional information and recorded in the relevant area. Based on the instruction of the scramble signal generation flag reproduced from the recording area of the additional information on a recording medium, the scramble signal for scrambling the recording function on the recording side is inserted into the analog video signal. In this case, a copyright protect signal generating circuit 252 is operated corresponding to signals from a VAUX circuit 248, synchronizing signal generating circuit 241 and timing signal. This signal generating circuit 252 controls a switch 253 corresponding to its line number coincidence output, applies a line data output to a D/A converter 235a and inserts a copyright protect signal into any prescribed line. |
