<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling, using plastic working, the exhaust-system piping of an engine such as an exhaust manifold or a casing and to provide its assembled structure. SOLUTION: A pair of split halves 1A, 1B, each taking the form of a wafer similar to the outer shape of piping, are split in the direction of a pipe diameter, are press molded from a metallic plate, and made to overlap the shape of the piping, and junction fins 1c joined to overlapping ends are joined and integrated together by a caulking means to complete assembly. Or a flange 30 may be formed along the overlapping ends at the same time as the assembly by using as the junction fins 1c the end sides of flanges 30A, 30B of the required width which are joined to the overlapping ends, and, in overlapping positions in which a projecting part 32 provided at one of the flanges is passed through a through hole 31 provided in the other flange, caulking the projecting part to fix the flanges in overlapping positions, and caulking the junction fins together.</p> |
