<p>A guest-host liquid-crystal composition comprising a dichroic dye incorporated into a host liquid-crystal composition, characterized in that the host liquid-crystal composition is composed mainly of an at least tricyclic compound not having a cyano group in the direction of the molecular axis and the proportion of the cyclic compound in the host liquid-crystal composition is not less than 75 % by mole with the order parameter (S value) being not less than 0.76, and a liquid-crystal element prepared therefrom. This composition possesses an excellent dichroism or a high order parameter.</p> |
