1. A gaming system comprising:
a housing; at least one input device supported by the housing; an acceptor supported by the housing; at least one display device supported by the housing; at least one processor; and at least one memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when, executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate with the at least one display device, the at least one input device, and the acceptor to: (a) establish a credit, balance based at least, in part on a monetary value associated with a physical item after the physical item is received by the acceptor; (b) place a wager on a play of a game responsive to an actuation of a wager button, the credit balance being decreasable by the wager, the game associated with a plurality of symbols and a plurality of symbol display areas: (c) activate one or more of a plurality of paylines based on the wager, each payline associated with a different plurality of the symbol display areas; (d) for the play of the game, randomly determine and display a plurality of the symbols at the symbol display areas; (e) for each active payline, if the symbols displayed at the symbol display areas associated with that active payline satisfy a multiplier condition, randomly select one of a plurality of different multipliers and associate that randomly selected multiplier with that active payline; (f) for each active payline, determine any awards associated with the symbols displayed at the symbol display areas associated with that active payline based at least in part on any multiplier associated with that active payline, the credit balance being increasable by any determined awards; and (g) initiate a payout associated with the credit balance responsive to an actuation of a cashout button. |
