PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition which can give a toner which shows excellent charging characteristics even when the composition contains little or no charge modifier and to provide a toner containing the same. SOLUTION: This resin composition for an electrophotographic toner is a resin composition comprising an ethylene polymer (H) having a weight-average molecular weight(Mw) of 200,000-1,000,000 and an Mw/Mn ratio of 8-200 (Mn is the number-average molecular weight) and an ethylene polymer (L) having an Mw of 3,000-20,000. Polymers H and/or L, desirably polymer H should be ethylene polymers obtained by polymerizing ethylene in the presence of a monomer (M) having an ionization potential (IP) and a difference between the highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO) level and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO) which are obtained by a technique of calculative chemistry of 9.0-15.0eV.
