GIOGRID CONSISTING OF TWO COMPONENT FIBER OF POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE AND POLYOLEFIN AND ITS PREPARATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermally bonded geogrid fabric comprising a warp knit, weft inserted geogrid fabric composed of a sheath comprising an adhesive polyolefin substance, etc., and a core comprising a polyethylene terephthalate having a prescribed intrinsic viscosity and excellent in dimensional stability and light resistance. SOLUTION: This geogrid comprises a warp knit and weft inserted geogrid fabric composed of a filament-like two component-based fiber having a sheath comprising an adhesive polyolefin substance such as polyethylene or polypropylene and 0.5 to 2wt.% carbon black and a core comprising a polyethylene terephthalate having >=0.89dl/g intrinsic viscosity measured at 25 deg.C in ortho-chlorophenol solvent system. Furthermore, the adhesive polyolefin substance component is preferably maleic anhydride.
