The machine tool has a portal frame with two uprights (2,3) supported on a base (4) via slides (5,6) which are parallel and define a longitudinal axis (X). The displacement of the two uprights along the axis is controlled respectively by kinematic chains (X1,X2) with a numerical control circuit. A traverse (7) connects the two uprights. The portal frame (1) carries machining heads (9a,b) on each upright which can be displaced on X and Y axes. The traverse is formed in two sections (7a,b) carried on the respective uprights and displaceable with respect to each other for a limited spacing. The kinematic chains can move in the X axis and can be relatively displaced in the defined range. |
