<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an elastic material which can maintain a stable contact with an object in both a static state and a dynamic state without adversely affecting the object, does not exhibit any irregularity or variation in characteristics, and can be suitably used as a material for an elastic member for a setting or printing mechanism, etc., in an electrophotographic apparatus or an electrostatic recording apparatus. SOLUTION: This elastic material mainly comprises a polyurethane resin which contains urethane linkages formed by the reaction of a polyisocyanate with a polyol and has an Asker C hardness of 85 deg. or lower, a compression set of 6% or lower, and an acetone-extractable content of 4% or lower. An elastic roller is made by forming an elastic material layer 3 comprising the elastic material, directly or through another elastic layer, around a shaft 2, and grinding and polishing the surface of the elastic material layer 3 to a surface roughness Rk of 4.5 or lower.</p> |
