Disclosed are compounds of formula (see fig. I) wherein X is H, NRR1, SR, OR or halogen; Z is H, OR2 or NRR1; R,R1,R2 are H, C1-4alkyl or aryl and pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives thereof. Also disclosed are use of the compounds as antiviral and anti-tumor agents, pharmaceutical formulations, methods for the preparation of the compounds and intermediates thereto.
