PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the performance of an internal combustion engine to the maximum limit all the time by restricting any rotational speed drop of a turbocharger. SOLUTION: The number of revolution of the turbocharger 10 of an internal combustion engine 1 for aircraft is controlled by regulating the opening degree of a waste gate valve 26. The controller of the internal combustion engine detects the outlet air pressure of a turbocharger compressor 16 and a turbocharger number of revolutions and depending upon these values, switching is applied to PD control to hold the outlet air pressure constant or to NT control to hold the turbocharger number of revolutions constant. Namely, NT control is started when a compressor outlet pressure exceeds its judging value during PD control and PD control is started when a compressor outlet pressure exceeds its judging value during NT control. Thereby any drop in the number of revolutions of the supercharger is restricted so as to be able to carry out an operation to which the engine performance is utilized to its maximum extent regardless of any change in the atmospheric pressure.
|
