<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-speed and stable tracking control for a reproducing head by providing an adding circuit in an ATF error generation circuit. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a tracking control means having an ATF error generation circuit shown in a block diagram and the device divides the video signal of one field into a plurality of segments and superposing segment information on the video signal and then records this on a magnetic tape. During reproduction, the device performs control so as to detect the reproducing level of the segment information and cause the tracking of the reproducing head to become automatically optimal. The ATF error generation circuit is provided with an adding circuit composed of resistors R1 and R2 for adding segment information reproduced from the tracks of both sides of a track traced by the reproducing head and current segment information is detected from the reproduced segment information. If the reproducing of a wrong track is judged based on this detection result, by using each segment information and segment information added by the adding circuit, tracking control is performed for the reproducing head without leaving any non-controlled positions.</p> |
