摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a data quantity to be sent without deteriorating the image quality by adopting a motion estimate method in the unit of characteristic points for 2-way predict frame coding. SOLUTION: A digital video signal including one intra-frame (I1 ), N-sets of two-way predict frames (B1-BN) and (N-1)-sets of predict frames (P1-PN-1) is given to a rearrangement circuit 10, the frame sequence to be rearranged is given to a rearrangement block 10. The block 10 rearranges the sequence into the rearranged frame sequence (I1 , P1 , B1 , P2 , B2 , P3 , B3 ,...) and the I and P frames are given to a coder 20 and the B frames are given to a coder 30. The coder 20 codes an input signal to give the I and P frame signals to a coder 40 via a switch SW and fed to an ME coder 30, and the B frame signal whose motion is estimated and coded is fed to the coder 40 via the SW1 and a video signal subject to variable length coding is fed to a transmitter.</p>
