<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve recording using a thermally sublimable ink ribbon and to keep the life of a thermal head and that of an ink ribbon long by performing the recording of one dot by the supply of a current to respective heating elements by the supply of a current divided into a plurality of times. SOLUTION: A mode discrimination part 27 discriminates a first recording mode performing recording by hot melt transfer to plain paper by using a hot-melt ink ribbon or a second recording mode performing recording by thermal sublimation to exclusive paper by using a thermally sublimable ink ribbon. A second recording mode control part 29 divides energy necessary for the transfer of thermally sublimable ink of one dot into a plurality of pulses to supply the same to a heating element to which a current must be supplied. That is, the supply of a current at every one dot to the heating elements of a thermal head 7 is constituted, for example, of divided pulses P1-P5 and the interval between a pair of pulses at adjacent positions is set so as to become mutually equal so that the current supply times of the pulses P1-P5 become mutually equal.</p> |
