<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the full-color display device which has high resolution and is made thin and optically stable and its driving method. SOLUTION: This display device has a multicolor light emitting means 103 which is connected optically to at least one place of an end surface of a light guide plate 102, and a light shield means 101 which performs light shield control over the light from the multicolor light emitting means 103 on the main surface of the said light guide plate 102. Further, this device has a light shield driving means which drives the light shield means 101 sequentially in pixel units and a light emission driving means which drives the multicolor light emitting means 103 in light emission wavelength units according to the light shield driving means. Consequently, the display device of relatively simple constitution can be obtained which has high luminance and can provide a full-color display and is thin and low in power consumption.</p> |
