A SILICON TRANSISTOR AMPLIFIER THAT SIMULATES THE PERFORMANCE OF A GERMANIUM TRANSISTOR AMPLIFIER

Amplifier which comprises a silicon transistor and receives audio frequency electric signals from a musical instrument such an electric guitar and having amplification and distortion characteristics similar with those of a germanium transistor amplifier. Present amplifier is capable to have even better saturation performance in overdrive, than that of a germanium transistor amplifier. Said amplifier has excellent repeatability and consistent performance over temperature, unlike the germanium transistor amplifier which respectively fails to maintain the desired performance. The amplifier is not affected from variations in characteristics that occur even in transistors among the same batch, such as current gain (hfe) and leakage current (Icbo), factors that are usually decisive for the entire performance of a germanium transistor amplifier.
