PURPOSE:To restrain the generation of shoe mark caused by seizure of a guide shoe. CONSTITUTION:A method for lubricating the outer surface of a seamless tube is one, which a lubricator composed of water solution containing 10-60wt.% metal oxide powder of <=2mm grain diameter and 10-50wt.% sodium silicate as solid material and having 200-5000 centi-poise viscosity or further containing dispersant and/or thickner, is sprayed and applied on the outer surface of the material to be rolled at the inlet side of a piercing mill and the piercing rolling is executed to manufacture a seamless tube. Then, the lubricator is sprayed and applied on the outer surface of the material to be rolled at >=20g/m<2> sticking quantity. By this method, the seizure of the guide shoe is prevented and the generation of the shoe mark can drastically be restrained. |
