<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a temporarily fixing work rapidly by covering the released upper face of a recessed space with a temporary cover plate before a chemical conversion treatment in order to prevent a safety valve from being detached from an exhaust cylinder under a pressure of gas generated inside a battery during the chemical conversion treatment. SOLUTION: A plurality of exhaust pipe 7 respectively communicated with cell chambers 3 inside a battery jar 1 and penetrating bottom walls are housed inside a recessed space 6 formed at the upper face of a battery cover 5, and safety valves 8 are respectively disposed in the exhaust pipe 7, thereby obtaining a sealed lead-acid battery before a chemical conversion treatment. A recessed groove 16 for engaging and locking is formed on part of a surrounding wall 14 surrounding the recessed space 6. Before a chemical conversion treatment, the released upper face of the recessed space 6 is covered with a temporary cover plate 15, the marginal portion 15a of which is engaged with and locked to the recessed groove 16 so as to be temporarily fixed to the battery cover 5. After the chemical conversion treatment, the temporary cover plate 15 is removed, and the released upper face of the recessed space is covered with a regular cover plate 19.</p> |
