A cover belt (22) wound around a belt drum (21) is coiled around the long line (2) on the winch drum (10) in order to cover the snap hooks (4). Guide devices (20,30) ensure the belt is aligned with the long line during winding and unwinding. Devices (14,15) are also provided to ensure an even axial distribution of the coiled long line around the winch drum.
