PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric vibrator which can obtain a piezoelectric vibrating gyro with high detection sensitivity. SOLUTION: A piezoelectric vibrator is formed with a driving electrode 11, detecting electrodes 9, 13 and grounding electrodes 10, 12, 8 on a cylindrical face of a cylindrical piezoelectric element 1 in parallel to an axial direction of the piezoelectric element 1. In this case, a driving part comprising the driving electrode 11 and the grounding electrodes 10, 12 adjacent thereto, a detecting part comprising the detecting electrode 9 and the grounding electrodes 10, 8 adjacent thereto and a detecting part comprising the detecting electrode 13 and the grounding electrodes 12, 8 adjacent thereto are respectively made into different shapes so that a relation between an effective electro-mechanic coupling coefficient kx of the driving part and an effective electro-mechanic coupling coefficient ky of the detecting part is kx>ky. This improves detection sensitivity of a piezoelectric vibrating gyro. This is attained by for example making respective lengths of the detecting electrodes 9, 13 shorter than that of the driving electrode 11. |
