PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the flow velocity distribution of a gas passing a honeycomb body, with high precision and resolution, by inserting microprobes for measuring gas flow velocity into honeycomb body channels, and measuring the gas flow velocity of each channel. SOLUTION: A honeycomb body 1 is connected with a cone 5 linking with a gas conduit tube 4 of a catalyst converter for cleaning exhaust gas of various kinds of internal combustion engines. A plurality of channels 2 linked with each other are formed in the axial direction closed with a flat foil and a wavy foil, in a metal honeycomb body, or in the axial direction surrounded by a ceramic wall, in a ceramic honeycomb body. Compressed air 6 is set into each of the channels 2 formed in the above manner, from the gas conduit tube 4. In order to measure the flow velocity of gas passing each of the channels 2, a hot-wire system of Pitot tube system microprobe 7 for measuring gas flow velocity is inserted into the channel 2. In this case, the size of the microprobe 7 is desirably so small that the gas flow in the channel 2 is not affected by the probe.
|
