A front structure of a locomotive comprising a fixed part (1) on which an opening (1a) is formed and a movable door (2) pivotally connected to said fixed part and axially translatable within it, so that the door can be arranged in a closure position and in an open position rotated of about 90.degree. with respect to said closing position and recessed inside the front structure. The door (2) is housed in said opening (1a) and is connected to actuating means (9, 11) integral with the fixed portion for transmitting it an axial translational motion to displace it from said closure position to an intermediate backwards position. Elastic means (8) are provided extending from said fixed position and eccentrically forcing against the door to keep it in the intermediate backwards position. The door is pivotally suspended to a frame (4) hinged to the fixed portion (1), the actuating means (9, 11) comprising connecting rod means (11) connected to the frame (4) and to a crank mechanism (9) operable from the outside of the structure.
