PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ship propulsion electric motor whose alignment with a propeller shaft can be efficiently carried out inside a ship and its simple installation method. SOLUTION: The rotor shaft 3 of a ship propulsion electric motor M is provided with a through hole 12 which pierces along the center axis of the rotor shaft 3, and a light source 5 at a front reference point is unobstructedly looked by visual observation through a through hole 12 from a peep hole position 10 at a rear reference point for carrying out the alignment of the electric motor M. When a mark showing the center of the cross section of the rotor shaft 3 is mentioned on transparent plates 13, 14 attached at both the ends of the through hole 12, an unobstructed view can be simplified. |
