PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color liquid crystal display device by which a bright screen can be obtained and whose power consumption is small by reducing light loss caused by color separation. SOLUTION: Light outgoing from a light transmission plate 3 is made incident on a step-like diffraction grating 4. The light beams of the respective colors of red, green and blue are respectively diffracted to different directions, and condensed on a picture element by a microlens array 5 arranged on the picture element. At this time, since the respective light beams of the respective colors of red, green and blue are separated to light beams advancing to the respectively different directions, the light beams are condensed to liquid crystal elements respectively having different colors with each other. |
