<p>An electro-coagulation printing apparatus comprises a print head including a drive mechanism having a columnar-shaped anode, which has a horizontally extending, central longitudinal shaft and an anode active surface and is formed by an electro-chemically inactive metal, the drive mechanism serving to revolve the anode about the longitudinal shaft of the anode at substantially constant speed, and a coating device for coating the anode active surface with an oily substance to form micro liquid droplets of the oily substance on the surface, the print head permitting electro-coagulation of colloid, which contains a coloring agent and coagulates electrolytically, to form dots of the coloring coagulation coloid representative of a desired image on the anode active surface coated with the oily substance. The apparatus of the invention further comprises a transfer device for contacting a substrate with dots of the coloring coagulation colloid to transfer the coloring coagulation colloid to the substrate from the anode active surface to thereby print an image on the substrate, and a cleaning device for cleaning the anode active surface to remove the remaining coagulated colloid, the cleaning device being disposed below the anode and the coating device. Such apparatus can print an image of high resolution.</p> |
