Electrical machine using high-temperature superconductor

The electrical machine has a wound laminated stator (3,3a,3b), generating a rotary magnetic field for driving a rotor (1), mounted on the machine shaft (5). At least the outer part of the rotor is formed from a high-temperature superconductive material, cooled to a low temperature via a cooling device, the rotor supported by magnetic bearings (2) in the stator magnetic field. The magnetic bearings may use permanent annular magnets on one or both sides of the rotor, provided with recesses filled with a material having a different magnetic characteristic.
