PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To equip a color filter with an interval control function so as to accurately control the interval with an opposite substrate by constituting a projection part by placing colored layers one over the other and leaving specific height above the surface of the colored layer. SOLUTION: A color filter substrate 1 has basic constitution of a color filter layer 3 (R, G, and B) which is formed on a transparent substrate 2 to constitute pixels (colored layer) and a transparent conductive film 4 which is formed on the filter layer 3 at right angles to striped electrodes of the opposite substrate. A graphic matrix 5 and an overcoat layer 6 are provided when necessary. The filter layer 3 ha the projection part 7 formed by placing the colored layers for controlling the interval between the color filter and opposite substrate one the other, and the height of the projection part 7 is >=1μm from the surface of the colored layer 3. Here, the height is preferably <=2μm. Thus, when a gap quantity is 1-2μm, the precision (e.g. <=0.05μm) of the projection part height can sufficiently be satisfied. |
