<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the running resistance of the drum section of a magnetic recording and reproducing device using an upper drum-fixed type rotary head/ drum assembly by vibrating the upper drum of the assembly at a high frequency. SOLUTION: The upper end of a drum support 21 is connected to a drum holder 25 in a finely movable state with drum support coupling screws and, at the same time, the projection 27 of the upper end is connected to the holder 25 through a high-frequency vibration generating member 23. Thus, a lower drum 5 is connected to an upper drum 3 through the member 23 in a finely movable state. The fine high-frequency vibration of the member 23 is transmitted to the upper drum 23 through the drum holder 25 and finely vibrates the drum 3 at a high frequency. Since air is caught between the upper drum 3 and a magnetic tape 10, the substantial frictional resistance at the boundary between the drum 3 and tape 10 is reduced. In addition, an additional amount of air is caught due to the vibration transmitted to the tape 10, the frictional resistance is further reduced.</p> |
