<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new mass-producible plant cell growth factor which is a specific peptide containing sulfonic acid groups excellent in promotion of cell growth of a higher plant, especially a monocotyledonous plant such as asparagus, rice plant or corn and useful for highly active plant growth agent. SOLUTION: This new plant cell growth factor is represented by the formula (at least one of R<1> and R<2> denotes SO3 H and the other denotes H; Z denotes anα-amino acid residue; X denotes H or an acyl; Y denotes OH, a lower alkoxy or NH2 ) and capable of promoting the cell growth of all the higher plants, but is especially excellent in the promotion of cell growth of a monocotyledonous plant such as asparagus, rice plant or corn and useful as a mass-producible plant growth agent, etc., having strong activities. The polypeptide is obtained by synthesizing a peptidic skeleton according to a conventional peptide synthetic method, then eliminating the protecting group for OH group in tyrosine which is a deydrated sulfonyl derivative and subsequently sulfonating the resultant compound according to an enzmic method, etc., using a sulfonyl group transferase such as an allylsulfatase.</p> |
