TREATMENT OF WASTE GAS CONTAINING VOLATILE ORGANIC MATERIAL AND TREATING DEVICE THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a volatile organic material at a high superficial velocity to treat a gas by passing the gas containing the volatile organic material through a packed tower having a packing material holding a microorganism while sprinkling water and receiving and treating a sludge mixed solution containing the released microorganism in a receiving part. SOLUTION: A biological treating device 14 is composed of the packed tower 12 and a circulating water storage tank 5 and the packed tower 12 has a packed layer 2 for packing the packing material holding the microorganism. The gas containing the volatile organic material is allowed to flow in from a gas flow-in port 1 of the lower part of the packed layer 2 of the packed tower 12. The waste gas is treated while sprinkling water from a sprinkling device 3 in the upper part of the packed layer 2 of the packed tower 12 and the sludge mixed solution 10 containing the microorganism released from the packing material due to the sprinkling is received in the circulating water storage tank 5 and solid-liquid separated. The separated supernatant is circulated to the sprinkling device 3 by a water feed pump 6. Thus the gas containing the volatile organic material is treated at the high superficial velocity to remove the organic material.
