FIELD: drives with flexible couplings; chain drives; automatic machines of food-processing industry; kinematic chains of agricultural and printing machines. SUBSTANCE: method of manufacture of involute sprockets includes cutting teeth on blanks by standard cutting tools, hob cutters for example. Manufacture consists of two stages. At first stage, cutting tool enters the blank to depth equal to depth of tooth of standard sprockets. The magnitude of coefficient of radial shift of tool is equal to <EMI ID=0.17 HE=9 WI=72 TI=CHI>, where D<SB>e</SB> is addendum circle diameter of sprocket, d= m.Z is pitch diameter, m is modulus of cutting tool; h<CHF>*@a</CHF>,c are coefficients of tooth depth and radial clearance of basic rack of tool; h is sprocket tooth depth. At second stage, cutter is preliminarily shifted by amount of tangential shift S along its axis by means of axial motion device. Cutting process is repeated with removal of metal only from side of teeth. Magnitude S=<EMI ID=0.18 HE=6 WI=99 TI=CHI>, where D is diameter of chain roller; alpha- is profile angle of basic rack; <EMI ID=0.19 HE=9 WI=66 TI=CHI> is radius of base circle; <EMI ID=0.20 HE=9 WI=39 TI=CHI> is radius of position of centers of hinges and t is chain pitch. Involute sprockets may be made in standard tooth-cutting machines due to adjusting the machine according to relationships used for determination of radial shift coefficient X and tangential shift S.
